Former private residence of João Federico Ludovice architect to King João V in the 18th century, the palace became a building of interest after having survived the 1755 Lisbon Great Earthquake. Over the course of 300 years it has served for different purposes, turning the palacete into a lively hub with shops, private apartments for the European aristocracy, the Russian consulate, among others. From 1945 this was the house of Solar do Vinho do Porto and since 2016 a profound reconstruction work took place under the eye of the architect Miguel Câncio Martins to bring to life the ultimate luxury boutique hotel experience in the city.
