Location
Quintocanto Hotel & Spa 4 stars is located in the historical city center of Palermo, next to the church of San Giuseppe dei Teatini, a stone's throw from Quattro Canti square, at the intersection of Via Maqueda and Corso Vittorio Emanuele, in proximity of Piazza Pretoria, the Church of the Martorana, and Palazzo Riso, seat of the Contemporary Art Museum. Surrounded by splendid 17th-century palazzos, fountains, statues of saints and Spanish kings, Quattro Canti is also known as the Theatre of the Sun as sunlight is extraordinarily reflected from all sides of the square from dawn to dusk. A walk down Corso Vittorio Emanuele, beyond Piazza Bologni, will lead to the Cathedral of Palermo, dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin. Known as a monument of high architectural value, this cathedral contains valuable works and the remains of the brilliant Frederick II, the most famous king of the Normans. The Palace of the Normans is just a few minutes away. Originally built by the Arabs in the 9th century as a sumptuous royal palace, this building was later enlarged during the Norman domination over the area. It features towers and marble staircases, a great royal hall, and mosaics in the Palatine Chapel, the most unique decorations in the world! Palermo is a city filled with art galleries and museum. Worthy of mention: Palazzo Abatellis, seat of the Gallery of Antique and Modern Art - where you can admire the famous Triumph of Death painting and some brilliant wood and marble sculptures - and the Archaeological Museum, featuring findings from Greek, Roman, Punic, and Etruscan ages. Located at less than a 5-minute drive from Quintocanto Hotel & Spa, the Botanical Gardens represent one of the most important botanical gardens in the continent, featuring several Mediterranean and tropical plant species in addition to Ficus Magnolioides, a most rare type of water plant.
