Rooms
Many of the bedrooms have been renovated recently to a very high standard - these are now sold as superior rooms. The decor is beautiful and the bathroom's are marble. The standard rooms are more basic but are still in a fair condition. There is a view of Edinburgh Castle from some rooms.
Restaurant
There are two restaurants. The Pompadour restaurant is decorated in soft pastels with delicate murals on the walls. The Gazebo restaurant is less formal and offers a wide variety of meals in relaxed surroundings. There is also an infomal wine bar which is open to the public and a smaller, intimate cocktail bar.
Exterior
It is a traditional building and is one of Edinburgh's most distinguished hotels. It was originally built in 1903 as part of the old Caledonian railway station. It does have a wing which was built in later years.
Lobby
The lobby is large and is very elegant. There is a large staircase and a lounge leading off of it.
